JACK Quartet—violinists Christopher Otto and Austin Wulliman, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Jay Campbell—has been hailed by The New York Times for their "stylistic range, precision and passion" that has made them "one of contemporary music's indispensable ensembles." Founded in 2005, the quartet operates as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the performance, commissioning, and appreciation of 20th and 21st century string quartet music. Their accolades include Musical America's 2019 "Ensemble of the Year" Award, Chamber Music America's 2024 Michael Jaffee Visionary Award, the Italian Music Critic's Prize as Best Ensemble of 2024, and two GRAMMY® nominations. Through close collaboration with composers, JACK has premiered works by Philip Glass, Georg Friedrich Haas, Caroline Shaw, John Zorn, and many others, while their JACK Studio program has supported more than 40 emerging composers from around the world since 2019. The quartet has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, BBC Proms, Sydney Opera House, and Wigmore Hall, and serves as Quartet-in-Residence at the Mannes School of Music in New York City.
